ABOUT
When I was two years old, I was adopted from Peru to the Netherlands; a journey that profoundly shaped my life and artistic practice. This foundational experience raised questions about identity that continue to influence my work today.
Through painting and charcoal drawings, I navigate my own journey and experience the sense of uprootedness that adoption has woven into my existence. My work emerges from this in-between zone: not quite here and not quite there, but somewhere where I am my own, unique self.
Painting is a constant challenge for me, one I embrace wholeheartedly. I'm drawn to breaking conventions: my work becomes more interactive and playful rather than straightforward. This approach reflects my own journey; nothing in my story has been linear, so why should my art be?
Uprooting permeates my practice as a source of creative energy. Each work becomes an exploration, a conversation between who I was, who I am, and who I might become. In this dialogue between medium and memory, between Peru and the Netherlands, I continue to discover fragments of my true self.
Born in Puno, Peru in 1999, I now live and work in Loenen, the Netherlands. In 2024, I graduated from ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art and am currently studying Creative Therapy at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences.
